LONG BEACH CRUISE TERMINAL

LBCT (1960)

The Long Beach Cruise Terminal, a 12-story geodesic dome, was originally built to display Howard Hughes' "Spruce Goose" airplane and has been used as a soundstage for films, but now serves as a cruise terminal, primarily used by Carnival ships, and is one of two cruise terminals serving Los Angeles.

1905 October - The Los Angeles Dock and Terminal Co. begins development of Long Beach Harbor by purchasing 800 acres of slough and salt marshes - an area that later becomes the inner harbor. On its executive committee is Charles Windham, later city manager and mayor of Long Beach, who later becomes known as the "Father of the Port."
