LAX IN (1960)
Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) got its name because the original two-letter identifier for the airport ("LA") was expanded to three letters ("LAX") when the aviation industry grew and needed more codes. The "X" doesn't have any specific meaning; it was simply added to maintain a three-letter format.
